  • Nivedita is the founder of ARTH, a mental health initiative that offers Counselling and Arts Based Therapy services for people dealing with mental health issues.
  • Her academic and professional training across over 25 years has focused on alleviating suffering through compassionate action. She is a trained Occupational Therapist from KEM Hospital, and a Psychiatric Social Worker with a doctorate from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai), where she also served as faculty.
  • She has provided care in diverse mental health settings ranging from hospitals to rehabilitation centres; and has worked in crisis areas such as suicide prevention and disaster relief post earthquakes and tsunamis.  She has been actively involved in relief efforts during the pandemic with JSA (Jan Swasthya Abhiyan) in resource mobilisation, creation of a helpline and training workshops.
  • She facilitates two courses on Applied Buddhist Psychology in Mumbai and Chennai (in partnership with BALM) with an aim of bringing wisdom and compassion to our daily lives. She began studying Buddhism during her training with the WCCL Foundation (Pune) with Asha Pillai-Balsara, and continues to pursue her studies in Buddhist philosophy from Tibet House (New Delhi) with Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul.
